Perched above the Bay of Kotor, Villa Eagle Eye offers breathtaking views of the Adriatic coast and surrounding mountains. It is here that we will gather with family and friends to celebrate our wedding.

On Saturday, a complimentary return shuttle service will be provided after the wedding from Villa Eagle Eye to designated hotel/drop-off points in Budva, Tivat and Kotor. Further details, including departure times and drop-off points, will be shared closer to the wedding.

Our story
We chose Montenegro because it already held a special place in our hearts.
Matt had completed an extreme triathlon called Black Lake in the north of Montenegro and absolutely loved the country, so we were excited to discover more of it together.

Montenegro truly feels like a hidden gem—tucked just across the Adriatic Sea from Bari, Italy, with the charm, scenery, and sense of adventure that make it feel both special and surprising.
Your presence is our present
We know that joining us in Montenegro requires time, travel, and expense, and having you there to celebrate with us is truly the greatest gift we could receive. We will not have a traditional wedding registry. For anyone who still wishes to give, we would be grateful for an optional contribution toward our Trek Travel Tour de France Ultimate Experience honeymoon—riding the final stages of the tour and celebrating at the finish line in Paris.
Please know there is absolutely no expectation; celebrating together in Montenegro is more than enough.

Why Montenegro?
Its character has been shaped by centuries of different cultural influences. Venetian stone towns, medieval fortifications, Orthodox monasteries, fishing villages and former royal residences sit within a relatively compact area. Kotor and the surrounding bay are recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while places such as Perast, Budva and Cetinje each reveal a different part of Montenegro’s history.
What makes Montenegro particularly special is how much can be experienced without travelling great distances. A single day might include a morning beside the Adriatic, lunch in a traditional mountain village and sunset overlooking the Bay of Kotor. Add local seafood, family-run farms and vineyards, warm hospitality and a slower Mediterranean rhythm, and Montenegro feels both easy to explore and distinct from more familiar European destinations.

Dubrovnik Airport in Croatia can also be considered, but the journey includes an international border crossing. Leave a generous amount of time for the transfer, especially during the summer.

Roads can be narrow and winding, while parking is limited in Kotor and other historic coastal towns. If using a taxi, choose a licensed company and agree the fare in advance.
Many old towns have cobbled streets, steps and uneven surfaces, so flat shoes are helpful for sightseeing.
Two useful local phrases: Dobar dan means hello or good afternoon, and Hvala means thank you.

5 Things to Know Before Visiting Montenegro
- Montenegro uses the euro
The local currency is the euro (€), although Montenegro is not currently part of the European Union or the Schengen Area. Cards are widely accepted in hotels and larger restaurants, but it is useful to carry some cash for taxis, markets, parking and smaller businesses.
- Short distance does not always mean a short journey
Montenegro is a small country, but its mountain roads, coastal traffic and narrow streets can make journeys longer than expected. This is particularly true during the summer, so allow extra time and book important transfers in advance.
- Tivat is the closest airport to Eagle Eye
Tivat Airport is normally the most convenient option for guests staying around Kotor, Tivat or Budva. Podgorica Airport may offer a wider choice of flights, while Dubrovnik Airport can also work but involves crossing the Croatia-Montenegro border. Border waiting times can vary considerably during the summer.
- The coast and mountains are very close together
You can spend the morning beside the Adriatic and be high above the Bay of Kotor later the same day. Eagle Eye is located in the hills in Mirac, so it may feel cooler and breezier than the coast in the evening. Bring a light layer and comfortable shoes as well as your summer clothing.
- Plan your shopping before Sunday
Most shops and supermarkets in Montenegro are closed on Sundays. Petrol stations remain open and often sell a useful range of groceries, snacks, soft drinks, toiletries and everyday essentials. Restaurants and cafés usually operate as normal, although individual opening hours may vary. If you need anything specific, it is best to buy it by Saturday.
